StART at Saatchi Gallery, London

For the 10th anniversary edition of StART at Saatchi Gallery, Kate Trafeli was selected to present a new body of work spanning painting, wood, textile and sculptural pieces, highlighting collaborations with sculptor Emmely Elgersma in London, and textile artist Olha Yohansen-Veselova in the Netherlands.     

Founded in 2014, StART developed a wide ranging platform for combining galleries, independent artists and curated projects from different international contexts. Its 2023 edition in Saatchi Gallery coincided with Frieze week and marked StART's tenth anniversary. This was the second time Trafeli had exhibited with StART at Saatchi.

For Trafeli, her 2023 presentation brought together otherwise separate strands of the practice: large-scale paintings, symbolic colour-field works, collaborative material experiments and small-edition publications in one installation context.
